Finn started this band in the mid 1980's.
Some people from the old days has told Finnguitar that in this band Finn did peak. After the band Rose the music gradually became more complicated and experimental as Finn and the band members lerned more guitar teqnique but also saw that more could be achieved musically. Gunnar on guitar, Torben on drums and Leif on bass was the first crew. But the crew changed a lot. Torben left after half a year and Tonni replaced him. Then Uffe replaced Leif and soon again by Patricia, one of the few female bass players in rock. Gunnar was then replaced by Niels. And Patricia by Thomas. Søren, a sax player often joined the band.
Experimentum started as a classic blues and rock band
In the beginning the material was rock and blues classiscs. But a lot of styles was mixed into it. It was jazz, funk, reaggae and latin. This mixture often resulted in long free improvisations. IN the beginning Gunnar would start a long solo and then Finn played a long solo. And sometimes a short sax solo was thrown also. These longs instrumental was unpredictable and it was never known when they started and when they ended. Sometimes the music went totally unstructed as a travel to the stars and back again. The band was always polite enough to take the ordience back to normal and the music always landed on the feet.
The inspiration for playing more experimental music
The experimental part of the music was inspired by Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers Band, Santana, Early Pink Floyd, Can and Gong. The more traditional rock part was inspired by Chuck Berry, Doors, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan and Delbert McClinton.
The major part of the songs was actually quite normally in structure. The gigs always ended with 3-5 good powerful rock classics.
The gigs in that always ended with a lot of energy an people clapping their hands, hitting the stage front with thir hand or feet with a lot shouting and whistling.
The crowd always cried for for more. We want more. We want more.
All the jamming and soloing also resulted in new orginal jam material. Actually this band have delivered a great deal of the basis for the new songs written by Finn.
